Nite-Bright Highlight: Cast Vinyl versus Calendered Vinyl

It is important to select the correct vinyl for the appearance and durability of your graphics. Cast and Calendered vinyl have different properties, advantages, and disadvantages which should be considered as part of your decision making process.

Cast Vinyl
  • Thinner, highly conformable to irregular surfaces such as rivets and corrugations.
  • Resistant to shrinking, cracking or peeling in outdoor applications.
  • More costly than calendered vinyl, cast vinyl’s conformability, durability, and wide array of colors makes it the best choice for fleet and vehicle wraps.
Calendered Vinyl
  • Thicker, less conformable than cast vinyl, performs best on flat or simple curved surfaces.
  • More likely to stretch, crack or peel when used for outdoor applications.
  • Calendered vinyl is lower in cost than cast vinyl, easier to handle because of its thickness and more resistant to abrasion.
  • Good choice for floor and wall graphics, point-of purchase displays and short term applications.
