Sign Codes and Ordinances

In the December edition of Signs of the Times, "Sign Code News" (p.10) shares recent headlines from coast to coast which feature challenges to city codes and ordinances.  Ordinances are often passed to keep signage from obstructing historical architecture. Restrictions may also be codified to keep the community from becoming visually cluttered.  Sign ordinances also help maintain the existing character of the community, balancing aesthetics with commercially necessary signage.  It is critical to explore the sign codes and ordinances for your community before you have signs designed or manufactured to avoid fines and/or forced removal of your signage.
