Hats Off for Arby's in Orange City, FL

  In Orange City, FL, an Arby's must remove their orange outlined cowboy hat pole sign because of a sign ordinance passed in the 1990s.  The ordinance provided a timeline to replace pole signs because of the "visual clutter" they create.  

  However, some new businesses, including a McDonald's across the street from the Arby's, were granted an exemption from the ordinance and allowed to build new pole signs.  This seemingly unequal application of the law has local businesses up in arms and organizing meetings to discuss the ramifications of removing their pole signs.
